What is JROTC?
JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps or ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps).

JROTC cadets participate in a wide variety of activities during their time in the corps. You are a cadet and you will learn about drill, civics, our duty as Americans, as well as many other interesting and exciting activities. Additionally we participate in parades and physical fitness activities. Chicopee High School’s AJROTC is proud to be sponsored by the largest Air Force Reserve Base - Westover Air Reserve Base. It’s an alternative landing site for the Space Shuttle and America's closest staging area to Europe and the Middle East.  Each school year our AFJROTC program is evaluated and inspected by retired Air Force commanders.

Mission, Goals, and Objectives

The mission of the AFJROTC program is to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.

AFJROTC Principals & Instructors, and a letter to parents:

Greetings from Headquarters Air Force JROTC! I am Colonel Bobby Woods, the National Director for the Air Force JROTC program. First, let me say "thank you" for your support of AFJROTC and your partnership to "develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community." We are truly accomplishing some great things in and through this incredible program. I have attached a letter that is intended for all prospective AFJROTC families (parents, grandparents, guardians) that briefly explains the program and some basic expectations for anyone who may wish to participate in the program. I ask that you provide this letter to your counselors, school staff, and any person who may be considering AFJROTC for their loved ones. I believe this letter, along with items that the instructors are already providing, will help with unit recruiting and provide some valuable information directly from our Headquarters to those who may be interested in this life changing program. I do appreciate your consideration and help with ensuring any interested family receives a copy of the letter if it is possible. Thank you very much, in advance, for your help and time!

I would also like to mention that we are posting exciting news and information about the AFJROTC program online. Our homepage can be found at: http://www.afjrotc.com/index.php?menu=JROTC

We are also posting all of our AFJROTC Newsletters online that contain additional information and highlights outstanding cadets and units that I hope each of you can take the time to review! The Newsletters can be found at: http://www.afjrotc.com/index.php?menu=afjrotc_news The newest one was published just today, so it is "hot off the press." Please feel free to share the information about our site and the Newsletters with anyone interested!

Thank you again for all you do for our youth and for your support of AFJROTC! If we can ever be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact us anytime.

Very Respectfully,
Col Woods
